A terrible thing happened. Now we get to fix it.
Until now, the story of the campaign to save the Stanislaus has resided in our broken hearts. As we plan our first bold steps toward restoring the river, imagine if the story of the Stanislaus is so commonly known that an expectation for the river’s revival is already mainstream when we set our plans in motion. There will be no stopping our momentum.
Our first project in this regard is to support the production of a feature-length, fictionalized film based on this true story, called Reclaiming Estanislao. Sue Knaup, one of our founders, has written the screenplay and is working with her production team in 2024.
Proceeds from the film will support the restoration of the Stanislaus River, specifically to reduce the dam and restore the 13 miles of river it harmed. In other words, to make the film come true.
Sue has launched the LLC called Reclaiming Estanislao (find the film website here) to administer all the funding for the film. Donations directly to Reclaiming Estanislao, LLC are not tax-deductible, but donations through the film's nonprofit fiscal sponsorship are. Find the link on the Support the Film page.
As the sole member of this LLC, Sue will ensure that the film supports the permanent restoration of the 13-mile stretch of the Stanislaus. She is also contributing her time to write and develop the film.
The film is currently in development and progressing toward pre-production. Please help make this happen.
How to help:
o Donate to the film and spread the word to other potential donors and sponsors
o Share the GoFundMe for the film
o Local helpers, scouting locations, and musicians for soundtrack
Later:
o Taking part as an extra (remember all those rallies?)
